In 2009, our roster of 200+ author appearances included Varnette Honeywood, Kim Wyans, Karyn Parsons, May May Ali , Al Young, Anthony Samad, Synthia Saint James, and many others! Book Fair attendees were offered an opportunity to engage in personal interaction with some of their favorite authors as well as discover and meet new authors - and 2010 promises to be bigger and better!

Charles Bibbs’ artwork manages to fuse African, African American and Native American cultural themes, to make powerful cross cultural statements. His work is thought provoking and capable of arousing strong emotions regardless of ethnic, gender and generational affiliation. Although he may have an idea or vision in mind when painting a particular piece, Charles prefers each individual who views his work to gain a personal vision from his artwork.

The producers of the Leimert Park Village Book Fair are happy to announce that the multi-talented Kim Wayans of the Wayans entertainment family has been named as the 2010 Book Fair Ambassador. "Some of the fondest memories from my childhood were spent curled up with a good book, visiting worlds out of my reach -- unlocking the imagination that would ultimately help me create a beautiful, successful and fulfilling life.,” said Kim. “The greatest gift a child can receive is the gift of literacy. I'm eternally grateful to my mother for recognizing that, and for sharing her love of reading with all of us Wayans children.”

The Leimert Park Village Book fair gives special thanks and recognition to Councilman BERNARD C. PARKS, Council District 8 and his wonderful staff – Christine, Ta-lecia, Cathy, Cesar & William.
